Biography
Colin Berg is a music composer from Seattle, Washington. Inspired by listening to music from around the world, Colin began to study the realm of synthesizers and digital music and composition. For the last few years, Colin has composed and worked with genres from new age piano to power metal and soundtrack and media compositions. Colin has been fascinated by the digital world of music and what can be created through software and samples that expand what is possible with music. Exploring this passion, Colin has taken classes in digital music at Edmonds Community College and written papers in art and digital music at the University of Washington - Bothell where in 2010 he graduated with bachelors in business administration.
In 2010, Colin Berg found Music career mentor Tom Hess and began participating in a Music Careers Mentoring Program that included many projects such as creating a compilation CD with colleagues in the program. The result is the compilation disc, “Songs of the Phoenix”, which will be released in 2012. Working with the group and putting the disc together has given Colin an experience of the process of working with others to create and release music with a message.
Colin Berg is inspired by nature and plans to create music that reflects the experience of nature and the bonds that humans experience with the environment. Colin believes that a healthy environment can foster beneficial relationships between humans and animals, and that each can help the other grow. Experiences growing up and at school helped Colin develop an appreciation and passion for what nature can give us. Working this past year with wildlife rehab has inspired Colin to write music for purposes of supporting wildlife rehab and humane interaction with animals.
Colin Berg's musical influences include a wide variety of artists that include Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire, Sonata Arctica, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Evanescence, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, John Williams ,Enya, David Arkenstone,Sarah Brightman and Loreena Mckennitt.
